Rainy Day Valentines and Love Songs

I asked Josh to design a Valentine for his class party

and here's what he came up with...

It was a fun project for a rainy day!!

It kept him busy and happy for a long time!!

With Valentine's Day coming up and colorful hearts at every turn,

I've been wondering...

Do you have a favorite "love song" or a "They're playing our song?"
Do you secretly love Barry Manilow or Celine Dion??

I have 2 favorites...

"In Your Eyes"

by Peter Gabriel

(reminds me of our courtship!)

and

"What a Wonderful World"

by Louis Armstrong

(1st dance at our wedding!)

And I might as well confess that I do own a Celine Dion CD.

Because...

"My Heart Will Go On"
and on...

Your Turn...

"Fiels of Gold" by Sting is our courtship song. "Leaving on a Jet Plane" is the song I listened to probably 1000 times when Gil went off to the Air Force. And, I admit, the Celine Deon lullaby cd makes me cry every time... I still play it for the boys now and then and lie next to them while they sleep. :)

"Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones. It was the song that Jason and I danced to at our wedding, and I will forever consider it our song. I also love the song, "Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice. "Do You Remember" by Jack Johnson is one of Jason's favorites--it makes him think of us. And "My Maria" by Brooks and Dunn always brings back great memories of Jason and I country dancing (the cha cha to be specific)at the grad and our wedding in the early years of our relationship.

love "in your eyes"

our songs are

"these are days"
by 10,000 maniacs

and "fly"
by sara groves

i have strong feelings of dislike for celine deon (why does she always beat her chest when singing "my heart will go on").

Too funny! We were totally on the same page with our posts. So I would have to say, "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra, the slow version. I glad I found your blog.

I was just discussing this with my friend Kayla, who is getting married next month, and was consulting me about first dance songs. :) I have many because I'm a sap, but my top 3 are:

At Last, Etta James - do I even need to explain?

You Belong To Me - written by 3 artists in the 1950s, recorded by Jason Wade (from Lifehouse) in 2001 (it was on the Shrek soundtrack.) Just so poetic and beautiful - plus I love his voice.

To Make You Feel My Love - Written by Bob Dylan, recorded by Garth Brooks - I cried the first time I heard it. Ha ha. "When the evening shadows and the stars appear, and there is no one to dry your tears, I could hold you for a million years, to make you feel my love." - Does it get better than that?

I totally love learning about all of you through your song choices!! Some of these songs I have never even heard of... I am going to have to check them out! Anyway, I'm definitely feelin' the love!! :)

And Denise... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8poQxrykDpg Here is the quintessential "beating the chest" performance. She almost broke that multimillion dollar necklace!! My theory... I think she just has a lot of European kind of passion and that is just different from American passion. I'm ok with European passion... me being a quarter French and all. When you have chin hair, you can't help but have a different kind of passion. Ok, I'm rambling...

"Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden was what we danced our first dance to, so I guess it's "our song." And I walked down the aisle to SCC's "Echoes of Eden"

But honestly and embarrassingly, the song that transports me back to those heady days of early marriage is . . . "Save a Horse; Ride a Cowboy" by Big and Rich. *blushing*

It was playing everywhere on our honeymoon; we couldn't get away from it. So now whenever I hear it, I get all mushy inside. :p But I have yet to be willing to download it for the ipod.

we danced at our wedding to a little known song called "One Starry Night" by Shades Apart, that we danced to one night in avila beach next to the car. (sigh) the song itself isn't that romantic but it feels romantic to me every time I hear it. :)
Also, I haven't heard it in a long time but David use to sing to me the song by 10 Shekel Shirt called "house of memories" and Joel Winger sang it at our wedding- it's such a sweet song.
